Book 10 of the Alvarez Family Murder Mysteries debuted April 10th.
I finished up the manuscript when we were in Egypt in between visiting amazing ancient temples or pyramids. Or having an amazing meal. Or chatting with a charming Egyptian or camel. I liked the camels. Very sweet. No spitting. In short, being in a magical place like Luxor or Aswan only added to my need to contribute something, even a made-up story about the Alvarez Family.
Maybe the tie-in with magic helped. Bewitched, Bothered, and Beheaded is a story about a magic trick gone horribly wrong and Lee Alvarez, the protagonist and patsy, being blamed for the magician’s death. Below is the blurb:
Lee Alvarez goes undercover as the assistant to a magician at a San Francisco charity show, but didn’t expect him to lose his head – literally – at her hands during the pièce de résistance of his act, the deadly guillotine. When she leaves the scene of the crime in pursuit of a furtive figure standing in the wings, it only adds to the potential charges being leveled against her. Her godfather, Police Chief Frank Thompson, pulls in favors and has her released into his custody. But there are only three days to prove her innocence before she is officially charged. Add to the mix, a tontine-like will, missing heirs, millions of dollars in the offing, and a cave-in dating from the days of the Barbery Coast. The Alvarez clan have their work cut out for them. Will Lee and her family be able to prove her innocence? Or will she spend the rest of her life in the hoosegow?
